Police are investigating the shooting death of a friend of a neighbor’s wife in the District.
Police say 29-year-old Joshua Hernell, who had a history of domestic violence, shot his neighbor’s 55-year and 5-year old daughters to death at a home in northwest Washington early Monday morning.
Police said Hernll shot his wife, Tressie Hernall, in the chest as she sat on the couch.
A neighbor said Hvernell had been involved in a dispute with his wife and had a gun in the house.
The neighbor said the wife called 911 shortly after the shooting.
The victims were taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting, which was reported about 7:15 a.m. on the 1600 block of South Franklin Street NW.
Hernoll was booked into the Washington County Jail.
A woman who answered the phone at the home Monday night said Harnell had not returned.
